Wallowr.AIR
Wallowr.AIR is your complete standalone Wallowr desktop application. Built using Adobe AIR, Wallowr.AIR offers you a new experience to using Wallowr. It's feature rich and utilizes many of Adobe AIR's most exciting features.
Feature List
Online/Offline Synchronization: By utilizing the SQLite database built in to AIR, our application will function both online and offline. When online, the users information is kept up to date with our servers. When offline, users will have access to all their information (contacts, stories, media), as of their last logon. This feature is great for our users... they can basically take our site, and their information, anywhere they want to.
Complete Autonomy From Website: We've designed our AIR application to be a complete stand-alone application. In fact, assuming the user had our installer file, they would never have to even visit our site to use it.
Full Featured, Real-time Search: Since we're using the local database, users will be able to search through all of their stories and contacts. This allows the user to basically keep a record of all their friends stories, and have that information at their fingertips.
Drag/Drop Support: This is one of the great features, due to AIR. Users can use drag and drop functionality all over our application. Users can drag out their contacts of the application, and they'll have fully usable VCARDS. Users can also update their avatar, by dragging in their new picture from their desktop. Finally, when it comes to sharing media, users can drag in the file they want to share directly into our AIR application and have it upload automatically.
Ability to Share Files Among Friends: Our AIR application allows users to simply drag in any file they would like to share (under 10 mb), and have it uploaded automatically, and shared with all of their Wallowr friends. Moreover, Wallowr users will be able to play/preview that file right from our application. All videos that are uploaded are converted on the server to FLV. When that FLV is shared with your friends, they can chose to "play" it, right from within our application. The same holds true for audio files.
Custom Chrome Interface: Our application takes full advantage of AIRŐs ability to have a custom interface. We have transparency enabled, allowing our application to be animated, and have several parts that can be hidden or viewable. We believe (after testing), that this interface enhances our usability. AIR is the only way to get this type of interface in a desktop application.
